Surroundings and tips

Callantsoog is a charming seaside town the northern tip of the province of North Holland and is a centre for recreation and leisure. Behind the dunes just south of Callantsoog lies the Zwanenwater (Swan Lake), a beautiful natural area of dunes, grasslands, marsh, coniferous forest and ponds. Only a part of this nature park is accessible to the public, but it is certainly worth a visit.

A beautiful backdrop for walking and cycling
The area around the Badhotel Callantsoog, at only 500 metres from the North Sea, offers a beautiful backdrop for walking and cycling. A number of walking and cycling routes take you through the dunes and along the famous bulb fields. A little further lie the towns of Almaar with its well-known cheese market, Schagen with its traditional West Frisian market – a combination of traditional dress, folklore and farmer’s market – and Den Helder with its Juttersmarkt or beach comber’s market.

Seaside town
Callantsoog would not be a seaside town without beach volleyball, kite flying, windsurfing, kitesurfing and horse riding. After a day of activity, you can enjoy your evening in one of the restaurants in the town square or one of the beach restaurants.
